{"id":1128,"date":"2026-02-01T06:37:50","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T06:37:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/truefactdigital.com\/?p=1128"},"modified":"2026-02-01T06:37:52","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T06:37:52","slug":"khurram-for-shifting-climate-governance-finance-to-the-frontlines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/truefactdigital.com\/?p=1128","title":{"rendered":"Khurram for shifting climate governance, finance to the frontlines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.app.com.pk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Khurram-Schehzad-e1735039374317.webp?x55336\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"508\" height=\"356\" src=\"https:\/\/truefactdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1129\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truefactdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-12.png 508w, https:\/\/truefactdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-12-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ISLAMABAD, (APP): <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advisor to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad on Saturday emphasized the urgency of shifting climate governance and climate finance closer to the communities most exposed to climate risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was speaking at High Level Panel session titled \u2018Decentralizing Climate Action: Unlocking Local Governments\u2019 Role in Climate Finance\u2019 at \u2018Climate Week Karachi 2026\u2019 according to press release issued by finance ministry here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The advisor noted that while global climate discourse often focuses on pledges and frameworks, climate resilience is ultimately built through execution, access to finance, and delivery at the local level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session was jointly organized by the Centre for Business and Economic Research (CBER), IBA and Transparency International Pakistan, with support from the Climate Action Center (CAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He highlighted that Pakistan\u2019s climate response must move beyond strategy documents toward practical, scalable financing mechanisms that enable households, farmers, MSMEs, and local governments to invest in resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He highlighted five key climate finance pathways including digital, collateral-free agricultural loans for smallholders; energy transition finance for households and MSMEs; affordable climate-resilient housing loans; outcomes-linked financing to attract private capital; and risk-sharing digital public infrastructure to de-risk banks and boost climate investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The panel highlighted a clear and unified message that \u2018local governments were not peripheral to climate action \u2013 they are central to it\u2019.
